Niacinamide can calm oil, refine the look of pores and fade marks. Here's which serums sold in Pakistan are worth buying for oily skin.

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is a favourite for oily skin because it does several useful things at once and almost everyone tolerates it. In Pakistan's humidity — when your face is shiny by lunchtime — it's one of the easiest actives to add to a routine.

Which niacinamide serum is best for oily skin in Pakistan?

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is our pick for most people with oily or breakout-prone skin. It's affordable compared with imported alternatives, easy to find, and the zinc adds a little extra oil control.

If you find The Ordinary's texture pills under sunscreen, COSRX The Niacinamide 15 Serum has a smoother, more elegant feel — but at 15% it's not for sensitive skin, and it costs more.

Prices are the lowest online prices we found at Pakistani retailers in November 2026 (via Derma.pk and Qeemat.com.pk). They change often — check the store before you buy.

What does niacinamide actually do for oily skin?

Research on topical niacinamide shows it can:

  • Reduce sebum (oil) production, especially on the forehead and nose.
  • Improve the look of enlarged pores, largely because skin is less oily.
  • Strengthen the skin barrier, which helps acne-prone skin cope with drying treatments.
  • Fade post-acne marks by reducing how much pigment reaches the skin's surface.

It won't clear active acne on its own, but it pairs well with treatments that do, such as salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or adapalene.

Is a higher percentage of niacinamide better?

Not really. Many of the original studies used 2–5%. Ten percent is popular, but it's not proven to work better, and strengths of 15–20% are more likely to cause flushing. If your skin is happy with 10%, there's no reason to switch — but don't buy a stronger serum expecting faster results.

How do you add niacinamide to your routine?

  1. Cleanse.
  2. Apply a few drops of niacinamide to dry skin.
  3. Follow with a light, oil-free moisturiser — yes, oily skin still needs one.
  4. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.

Use only a few drops. Too much product is the main reason serums pill or feel sticky in humid weather.

Frequently asked questions

Is 10% niacinamide too strong?

For most people, no — but some skin reacts to it with redness or itching. If that happens, use it every other day or switch to a 4–5% serum. Studies show benefits at 2–5%, so lower strengths are not a downgrade.

Can niacinamide cause breakouts?

Niacinamide itself rarely causes acne. If you break out after starting a serum, other ingredients or a heavy layering routine are more likely culprits. Give it a few weeks, and stop if it keeps getting worse.

Should I use niacinamide in the morning or at night?

Either. It's stable and layers well with most ingredients, including vitamin C, retinoids and sunscreen.

How long does niacinamide take to work on oily skin?

Expect less shine within 2 to 4 weeks. Marks and uneven tone take longer — usually 8 to 12 weeks of daily use.
