How we research and pick products

Our recommendations should be the ones we'd give a friend. Here's exactly how we get there.

Last updated 1 November 2026

1. We start with the evidence

Before recommending anything, we review the published research on the active ingredient — what concentration is effective, what formulation keeps it stable, and who should avoid it. Where the evidence is thin, we say so.

2. We only recommend products you can buy in Pakistan

Every product in our comparisons is available from local retailers or official stockists. Prices are listed in Pakistani rupees and checked on the date shown on each article. Prices change often, so treat them as a guide.

3. We're clear about how each pick was made

Most of our buying guides are research-based comparisons. We judge the formula, the strength of the active ingredient, the packaging (which matters for unstable ingredients in Pakistan's heat), the price and how easy it is to buy. When a recommendation is based on our own hands-on use of a product, the article says so. We never claim to have tested something we haven't.

4. How we score

  • Formula — the active ingredient, its percentage and supporting ingredients.
  • Evidence — how well the ingredient and strength are supported by research.
  • Suitability — skin types and concerns it suits, and how likely it is to irritate.
  • Value — price per ml against comparable products.
  • Availability — how easy it is to buy genuine stock.

5. Independence

Brands cannot pay for coverage or for a verdict. We may receive PR samples, and some links may earn a commission — neither affects our recommendations, and we disclose both. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labelled.

6. Medical review and safety

Our guides are for general information. Articles about medical skin conditions are reviewed for accuracy, and we always recommend seeing a dermatologist for persistent or severe concerns.

7. Updates and corrections

We revisit our buying guides regularly and show the “Last updated” date on every article. Spotted an error? Tell us and we'll correct it promptly.
