Best Hair Oils in Pakistan 2026: What Actually Helps Hair Growth (With Prices)
Oiling is a Pakistani hair ritual, and it does help, just not always in the way the bottle promises. Here's which hair oil to buy for dry hair, breakage and hair growth, what each costs, and when to see a doctor instead.

Oiling (baalon mein tel lagana) is one of the oldest hair rituals in Pakistan, and most of us grew up with a weekly champi. It does help, but mostly by protecting the hair you already have, not by making new hair grow. Some oils have real research behind them, and some expensive "hair growth" oils have none.
Here's which hair oil to buy in Pakistan, what each costs, and what the evidence actually says.
What can hair oil actually do?
What oiling does well:
- Reduces breakage. Oil coats and, in the case of coconut oil, partly soaks into the hair, so hair absorbs less water and swells less when washed. That means less damage, fewer split ends and less hair snapping off.
- Softens dry hair and reduces frizz, especially in winter.
- Gives a scalp massage, which feels good and, in one small study, regular daily scalp massage was linked to slightly thicker hair over six months.
What oiling can't do:
- Stop hair falling from the roots. That's driven by things inside the body: genetics, hormones, stress, illness, low iron or vitamin D, and thyroid problems.
- Make hair grow several inches faster. Hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, and no oil changes that much.
- "Detox" or "unclog" hair follicles.
Which oils have real evidence?
- Coconut oil: the best-studied. Lab research shows it reduces protein loss from hair when used before or after washing, which oils like mineral oil and sunflower oil don't do as well. Good for damage and breakage, not growth.
- Rosemary oil: the most promising for thinning. A 2015 trial of 100 men with pattern hair loss found rosemary oil increased hair count about as much as 2% minoxidil after six months, with less scalp itching. It's one fairly small study, but the most encouraging result for any oil.
- Amla, black seed, castor, onion and arnica oils: popular and pleasant to use, but there's little good human research showing they grow hair. Castor oil, often sold for hair growth, has no clinical evidence for it.
The best hair oils in Pakistan, compared
Prices are the lowest prices we found on Daraz (including the Al-Fatah store and brand stores) on 5 November 2026 and change often. Popular imported oils such as Mielle are widely copied, so buy from official stores or large retailers.
Which hair oil should you buy?
| Product | Key ingredient | Price | Skin type | Our verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Hemani Hair Oil Rosemary with Argan & Mint (200ml) | Rosemary, argan and mint in a carrier oil | Rs 565 | Thinning hair, all hair types | Best budget rosemary oil, ready to use |
| Hemani Rosemary Oil (30ml essential oil) | Rosemary essential oil | Rs 610 | For mixing into your own oil | Must be diluted; a few drops go a long way |
| Dabur Amla Hair Oil (300ml) | Amla extract in mineral and vegetable oils | Rs 999 | Dry hair, regular oiling | Familiar, pleasant conditioning oil |
| Vatika Hair Oil (200ml, coconut, olive or almond) | Coconut, olive or almond oil with herbs | Rs 680 | Dry hair, regular oiling | Good everyday conditioning oil |
| Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Oil (59ml) | Rosemary, mint, biotin, other oils | Rs 1,499 | Thinning hair, scalp massage | Viral and pleasant, but you pay for the name |
Parachute 100% Pure Coconut Oil: best for dry, damaged hair (about Rs 460)
Plain, pure coconut oil is the most useful hair oil you can buy, and one of the cheapest. Use it before washing to protect long, coloured or dry hair from breakage. In very cold weather it turns solid: warm the bottle in your hands or a cup of warm water before use. The imported 175ml bottle costs about Rs 1,090, so the local 100ml bottle is better value.
Hemani Hair Oil Rosemary with Argan & Mint: best budget rosemary oil (about Rs 565)
A ready-to-use blend, so you don't have to dilute anything yourself. If your hair is thinning, it's a cheap way to try rosemary for three to six months, which is how long the research used. Massage a little into the scalp three or four times a week and wash it out within a few hours.
Hemani Rosemary Oil (essential oil): for DIY blends (about Rs 610 for 30ml)
This is concentrated rosemary essential oil, Daraz's best-selling rosemary oil, and it should never go on the scalp undiluted. Add five to ten drops to about two tablespoons (30ml) of coconut, olive or almond oil. Patch test first: undiluted essential oils can burn and irritate skin.
Dabur Amla and Vatika: familiar everyday oils (about Rs 680–1,000)
Both are pleasant conditioning oils that many families have used for decades. They soften hair and reduce dryness, and the herbal extracts give them their smell. There's no strong evidence that the amla or herbs make hair grow, so if you're buying for growth, rosemary is the better bet. If you like the ritual, they're fine.
Mielle Rosemary Mint: the viral one (about Rs 1,500–1,700 for 59ml)
The American oil that went viral on TikTok. It's pleasant, tingly and well made, but it costs about three times as much as Hemani's rosemary blend per bottle, for far less oil. Listings at Rs 850 are likely copies.
What about expensive "72 herbs" and "kushta" oils?
Pakistan's heavily advertised herbal hair oils often cost Rs 2,000–3,000 and promise to stop hair fall and regrow hair. We couldn't find published research supporting those claims. They're unlikely to be harmful as conditioning oils, but they're not worth paying several times more for. Spend the difference on a doctor's visit and blood tests if hair fall is your worry.
How to oil your hair properly
- Start with dry or slightly damp hair, before washing.
- Use a small amount: a teaspoon or two for medium-length hair. More oil means more shampoo to get it out.
- Put most of it on the lengths and ends. If you're using rosemary for thinning, massage a little into the scalp with your fingertips for a few minutes. Don't rub hard or use your nails.
- Leave it for 30 minutes to a few hours. Overnight is fine for very dry hair.
- Wash it out with shampoo. You may need to shampoo twice.
- Two or three times a week is plenty.
Tie oiled hair loosely. Tight plaits on oiled hair pull at the roots and can cause hair fall along the hairline.
When oiling makes things worse
- Dandruff: the yeast linked to dandruff feeds on oil. If your scalp flakes or itches, keep oil to the lengths and use one of the best anti-dandruff shampoos in Pakistan.
- Acne on the forehead and back: oil from the hair can clog pores along the hairline. Wash oil out before bed if you're breakout-prone.
- Fine, oily hair: use oil only on the ends, before washing.
When to see a doctor about hair fall
Losing 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal. See a doctor or dermatologist if:
- hair fall lasts more than two to three months
- you see patches, a widening parting or a receding hairline
- it started after an illness, a new medicine, pregnancy or a crash diet
- you also feel tired, cold or have heavy periods, which can point to low iron or thyroid problems
Doctors often check iron (ferritin), vitamin D and thyroid levels. For pattern hair loss, minoxidil, available from pharmacies, is the best-proven treatment you can use at home; ask a doctor or pharmacist before starting, and avoid it in pregnancy.
For dry, frizzy lengths in winter, pair your oil with a weekly mask from our guide to the best hair masks in Pakistan.
Frequently asked questions
Which hair oil is best for hair growth in Pakistan?
Rosemary oil has the most promising research of any oil: one study found it worked about as well as low-strength minoxidil after six months. A ready-diluted blend such as Hemani Rosemary with Argan and Mint (about Rs 565) is an easy way to try it. For proven results, minoxidil is still the stronger option.
Does oiling stop hair fall?
Oiling reduces breakage, so you lose fewer broken strands. It doesn't stop hair falling from the roots, which is usually caused by stress, illness, low iron or vitamin D, thyroid problems, hormones or genetics. If hair fall lasts more than two to three months, see a doctor.
How long should I leave oil in my hair?
Thirty minutes to a few hours before washing is enough. Overnight is fine for dry hair, but there's no extra benefit to leaving oil in for days, and it can worsen dandruff and clog the scalp.
Is coconut oil good for hair?
Yes. It's the best-studied hair oil. Applied before washing, it reduces protein loss from the hair, which means less damage and breakage. It won't make hair grow faster.
Can oiling cause dandruff?
It can make it worse. Dandruff is linked to a yeast that feeds on scalp oils, so heavy oils left on the scalp for long periods can make flaking worse. If you have dandruff, oil the lengths, not the scalp, and use an anti-dandruff shampoo.
Baal lambe karne ke liye konsa tel best hai?
No oil makes hair grow much faster, but rosemary oil has the best evidence for thinning hair, and coconut oil keeps long hair from breaking. Massage gently, wash it out within a few hours, and see a doctor if hair fall (baal girna) continues for months.
